The Harvard Black Alumni Society's long-term strategy for growth and expansion is based on a franchise model. In 2002, we launched our first chapter, The Harvard Black Alumni Society of Boston, and have since established operations in Atlanta (2003), Chicago (2003), Houston (2006), New York (2003), Los Angeles (2004), San Francisco (2005) and Washington, D.C. (2002).
The Harvard Black Alumni Society is a valuable resource for local groups interested in developing programs and planning events in their city for Harvard black alumni. In exchange for the use of our resources, local groups can easily become involved in their communities without the burden of bureaucracy.
How to find out about activities sponsored by a Local Chapter
Individuals interested in learning more about activities sponsored by a particular local chapter of HBAS can join regional user groups for that chapter. Simply log into your user (i.e. non-member) account and click on "Groups" on the top menu of the user dashboard. If you do not have a user account, click here to sign up for the HBAS newsletter and a basic user account. By selecting a group after logging in, you will be kept abreast of upcoming events.
For individuals that were previously subscribed to HBAS regional Yahoogroup lists, you must be subscribed to the main HBAS newsletter list (which can be accomplished by signing up for a user account) as well in order to join a regional group. If you were already subscribed to the main HBAS Yahoogroup as well as the regional one prior to November 3, 2006, you have automatically been added to the regional groups of which you were a member before and can edit your preferences by logging in.
