Our Mission

Founded by alumni of Harvard College, The Harvard Black Alumni Society is a forum for black Harvard alumni to convene, communicate, and contribute to mutual professional development and the cultivation of black graduates both present and future. HBAS serves to enrich and enlighten its membership, as well as to embrace the challenges and triumphs that we encounter "post-Harvard."

The goals of HBAS are as follows:

  • To promote acquaintance amongst alumni
  • To provide a conduit for professional networking
  • To encourage strong alumni interest and investment in black student communities at the College and all Harvard schools
  • To increase alumni involvement in University affairs and events that impact the black communities tied to the College and all Harvard schools
  • To assist and encourage the University in its recruitment of Black candidates for undergraduate and graduate degree programs as well as faculty and staff positions
  • To cultivate a stronger sense of alumni community

It is our intent that, through this organization, a strong and supportive society of Black Harvard Alumni perpetually exists to address pertinent issues and to enhance the alumni experience of each graduating class.
