How do I log onto my account?
For first-time users, you can log onto you account by going to www.hbasonline.org, clicking on the “Member Login” button on the left hand side, and clicking on the “Forgot your Password” link. At this point, you will be prompted to enter your email address. For individuals already subscribed to the main HBAS newsletter, the email address you used to subscribe is your username and is the address that a randomly-generated password will be sent to. Once you have logged in for the first time, you can chance your password by clicking on “Edit my record” and clicking the “Change your Password” link near the top.
What is the screen that I see when I log in?
The HBAS dashboard is a central location for users to manage all their activities on the HBAS site. From this location, you can edit your profile, see what events you have registered for, and search through HBAS articles and press releases, and much more. If you ever need to return to the dashboard, you can click on the “Alumni Services” tab at the top of the page, which will take you to a text-only version of the dashboard. This is a simplified version of the dashboard.
What happened to the regional mailing lists (i.e. the HBAS yahoo groups) ?
You can still sign up for any of the regional mailing lists by logging into your account and clicking on “Groups” link right above the calendar events icon. New groups will be added from time to time (i.e. a group for members interested in community service opportunities) so be sure to check back ofter.
Right now, I’m only signed up for the HBAS newsletter? How do I upgrade to become a member?
You can become a member by filling out the online membership application form. This can be found under the “Membership” tab on the top menu. You can either choose an annual membership (starts from the day you submit payment for membership dues, not from the calendar year) or a lifetime membership. As part of the process, you will temporarily be redirected to our secure paypal site to process payment of membership dues.
How do I search for other members?
You can search for other members by using the Membership Directory, which can be found under “Membership” tab. Non-dues paying members can view basic profiles of all site users, while dues paying members can search by school and class year.
Can I register for events online?
You certainly can! All upcoming HBAS events are shown on the HBAS calendar, which can be accessed either by clicking on the “Events” link at the top of every page or the event menu on the left-hand side of the HBAS home page. By clicking on an event in the calendar, users can access event details, pricing, and other features. You can even links to maps of the event location, find out the weather around the locale, print out an invoice for your event registration or download the event into your Outlook calendar! Note that some events will be restricted to dues-paying members and may not be viewable by individuals with “user” accounts.
